Downtown Marion Inc. is committed to revitalizing and beautifying the heart of our community through key projects. We collaborate with the City of Marion on the Adopt-a-Flower Bed Program, encouraging local businesses and residents to enhance the visual appeal of downtown. Additionally, we partner with business owners to host the annual Window Decorating Contest, which brings people downtown and fosters a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere.
Downtown Marion Dollars
Downtown Marion Dollars is a community gift card program that supports local businesses by encouraging consumers to shop, dine, and enjoy downtown’s unique offerings. By purchasing and using these digital cards, participants help strengthen the local economy and contribute to Marion’s ongoing revitalization efforts.
The Cardinal Project
The Cardinal Project is a public art initiative featuring 17 five-foot-tall statues of Ohio’s state bird, the cardinal, placed throughout Downtown Marion. Each statue is uniquely designed and painted by local artists, reflecting the creativity and spirit of the Marion community while enhancing the downtown’s cultural appeal.
Adopt-A-Flower Bed
The Adopt-a-Flower Bed Program, a collaboration with the City of Marion, invites local businesses and residents to beautify downtown by adopting and maintaining flower beds. This initiative fosters community pride while enhancing the visual appeal of Downtown Marion, creating a more welcoming environment for both visitors and locals
Window Decorating Contest
DMI partners with downtown business owners to host an annual Window Decorating Contest, where creative displays help beautify the area and attract foot traffic. This festive competition engages the community, encourages shopping, and adds a touch of charm to the downtown experience, especially during the holiday season.
Downtown Street Christmas Decorations
DMI plays a key role in spreading holiday cheer by adorning Downtown Marion with festive street decorations each year. These decorations create a warm and inviting atmosphere, drawing visitors to shop, dine, and experience the magic of the holiday season in the heart of Marion.
Bronze Plaque Project
The Historic Plaque Project recognizes and preserves the historical significance of buildings in Downtown Marion. By placing informative plaques on these buildings, the project educates visitors about Marion’s rich history, celebrating the downtown’s heritage and encouraging appreciation for its architectural treasures.
