Third Thursday Fall Festival: A Downtown Marion Community Celebration

The first-ever Third Thursday Fall Festival was a resounding success, bringing the community together for an evening of fun, food, and festivities. The event, featuring a highly competitive chili cookoff, a thrilling glow dance party, and a crowd-favorite hayride, showcased the best of fall in Downtown Marion.

A Chili Cookoff to Remember

One of the highlights of the evening was the chili cookoff, where local participants served up their best homemade recipes. Judged by Marcela Barrios, Bev Ford, and Mayor Collins, the competition was fierce, and the flavors were bold.

The winners of the Judges' Pick were:

🥇 Andrea Honaker – 1st Place

🥈 Tom Stotts – 2nd Place

🥉 Marion City Firehouse – 3rd Place

In addition to the judges' selections, attendees had the chance to vote with their wallets, raising money for North Carolina Hurricane Relief in the Marion’s Favorite category. The winners were:

🥇 Andrea Honaker – $150 raised

🥈 Tom Stotts – $118 raised

🥉 Kim Anderson – $103 raised

In total, the cookoff raised over $400 for the relief fund, demonstrating the generosity and community spirit of those in attendance.

An Evening of Entertainment

The festival offered much more than just great food. Mayor Collins took the stage to announce the winners and set the tone for the night’s biggest spectacle—the glow dance party. Attendees of all ages joined in the celebration, dancing the night away in a sea of vibrant lights.

A special highlight of the evening was the performance by Irey Dance Studio, which delighted the crowd with an electrifying Thriller flash mob, bringing a touch of Halloween magic to the event.

A Tradition in the Making

The Third Thursday Fall Festival proved to be a fantastic addition to Downtown Marion’s seasonal events. The hayride, a favorite among families and children, added a nostalgic touch to the festival, and the overwhelming community support made it clear that this event is here to stay.

As we reflect on an incredible evening, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported this inaugural event. The enthusiasm and generosity displayed by the community were truly inspiring. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
